A Santa Barbara standout with an intimate relationship with Rincon, Kilian Garland ranks third, currently, on the North America World Qualifying Series. Having the longest standing record for most wins at the Rincon Classic, Kilian is on a hot streak, having placed 5th at the 2017 WSL Shoe City Pro, 1st at the Rincon Classic Pro, 3rd at the 2017 WSL Jacks Pro 1500, and was the 2017 WSL North American Pro Champion. Now, four months into the year, Mr. Garland has lofty goals for the remainder of the season:

  • Top 6 rating by end of the year
  • Finals at Haleiwa and Sunset QS events
  • Make the finals in all 10000 rated events in South Africa, California, Portugal, Hawaii

These are just some of Garland’s main goals for the 2017 season. With ten years of grinding on the qualifying series, Garland has hit a phenomenal stride this year and hopes to land a rookie spot on the WSL but he can’t do it without our help.

Garland is seeking financial support through his GoFundMe page to establish a fund for his Japan and South African leg of the WSL Qualifying Series. His passion and performance is clearly at an all time high and he can’t do it without the help of your generous donation! With 3000, 6000, and high level 10,000 QS events on the horizon, donating will allow Mr. Garland to establish himself on the QS as a top contender, vying for a spot on the 2018 World Surf League Tour.

Surfing in a Blizzard
Surfing in a Blizzard

by Steve Ramsthaler January 23, 2018

We headed north up the frigid coast until we found a peeling left coming off a pier. Sean suited up and I went out to the snow-covered pier to shoot. Although it was challenging conditions to shoot in trying to keep the subject in focus during the blizzard, and not knowing if my toes were going to fall off, it was truly a moment us surfers and surf photographers live for.
