There’s no trip more nostalgic than the drive North up the California coast. After a few weeks of flatness here in Southern California, we left the comfort of sunny San Diego and drove toward San Francisco in search of waves and a little bit of uncertainty. We were greeted with brisk waters and a rugged coastline, but it was nothing our fresh neoprene couldn’t handle. The photos above reflect some of the finer times during our journey!
When the swell fills in, you are guaranteed to see some incredible photos from the day captured by XTERRA SURF staff photographer Lee Bertrand. Between chasing swells, swimming with sharks and playing with his daughter, Lee has become a staple in the San Diego surf scene. We were able to catch up with Lee for a little Q&A to get to know the man behind the lens.
